Salary vs. Wages

Salary - a fixed amount of money agreed every year as pay for an employee, usually paid directly into his or her bank account every month

Examples:

e.g. An annual salary of Rs 500000.

e.g. Mohan's on quite a good salary in his present job.

Wages - the money paid in return for a person's work, esp. when paid weekly or daily rather than monthly.

Examples:

A minimum wage is the lowest hourly, daily, or monthly wage that employers may legally pay to employees or workers.

e.g. Low-wage workplaces are often physically damaging.

e.g. Mohan's death hit his parents hard as he was the only wage earner in the family.
