Idioms and phrases

1.To dig one's grave- to behave in a way that will cause one to lose or fail/ अपनी क़ब्र खुद खोदना 

2.Cold reception- half hearted welcome/ बेमन से स्वागत करना 

3.A damsel in distress- a young woman who is in trouble/ कोई जवान महिला जो मुसीबत में हो

4.On one's last leg- sth that is close to collapsing/ बर्बादी के कगार पर होना 

5.Have an itching palm- to desire money greedily/ पैसे पाने का लालच होना 

6.Great cry and little wool- A great deal of fuss, noise, fanfare, or protestation over something of little or no substance, importance, or relevance/ ऊंची दुकान फीका पकवान 

7.A fair crack of the whip- a fair chance or opportunity/ कोई सही मौका 

8.To take a leap in the dark- to do a hazardous thing without any idea of the result/ बिना परिणाम की सोचे कोई ख़तरनाक कार्य करना
