####Surrounding or on all sides of something or someone 

e.g. The whole family was sitting around the dinner table.

e.g. The Romans built a defensive wall around the city.


####Moving in a circle/ Around= round [BrE]

e.g. A helicopter was circling around, looking for somewhere to land.

e.g. They danced around the bonfire.


####In or to many places or parts of an area/ Around= about [BrE]

e.g. He wandered around the streets, looking in shop windows.

e.g. I finished college, I travelled around for a while.


####In an area near a place or person

e.g. Is there a bank around this place?

e.g. Have you been around the palace?


####Used when guessing a number, amount, time etc, without being exact [Around= adverb]

e.g. There must have been around 40,000 people in the stadium.

e.g. It will cost you around 5 crores.
